ECF National Schools Final Under 11

ECF National Schools Final Under 19

Uppingham School

2nd/3rd/4th/5th July 2019

A first for two schools in the Manchester Chess Federation area. Bolton Junior Boys School and Turton Edgworth Primary School both took part in the ECF National Schools Final at Uppingham School. This is the first time any Manchester area schools have been represented in the finals.

The final is recognised as one of the strongest events for schools, drawing schools from London, South Wales, Oxford and the North East. While MGS has a recent record of success in the Under 19’s, we have never had a team in the Under 11 Finals. To have two teams this year was a great outcome.

The overall winners were Kings College School, London, but both of our schools acquitted themselves well.

The children had a great time and the experience will help them to continue to develop their chess.
