Magnus Tour Online Chessable Masters starts on Saturday June 20th 2020.

Magnus Carlsen takes on Hikaru Nakamura in the first round as the Chessable Masters starts on Saturday June 20th. Both players are in the A Group for the preliminary stage, where they play each other and Daniil Dubov, Alexander Grischuk, Vladislav Artemiev and Harikrishna twice. The B Group, on Sunday and Tuesday, features Fabiano Caruana, Ding Liren, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Teimour Radjabov, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Anish Giri. Eight players will make it through to the quarterfinals.

The Chessable Masters, the third stage of the $1 million Magnus Carlsen Tour, is almost here! The 12 players, including 8 of the top 10 and the complete top 6 on the world rating list, have been split into two groups for the preliminary stage. This allows them to play on alternating days and to have no more than 3 games live at any time - we felt having 6 games live during the Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge was just too many to follow!

Over the board chess might be unavailable but Manchester Juniors have been

engaged in a range of competitions:

Manchester Juniors in the 4NCL played for ten weeks. The A team came 6 th

division 3 while the B and C team came 9 th and 44 th out of 56 teams in the 5 th

Division. Twenty children from six different clubs took part. Big thanks to all of them.

Best score Rowan Eccleston who lost only three games out of 16.

Manchester Juniors in the Junior 4NCL played for eight weeks. Manchester

Junior A came third in division 3. The B, C and D teams came 42 nd , 53 rd ,and 63 rd out

of 78 teams. Twenty four children played some part in the event from five different

clubs. Best scores Edward Jackson and Tarini Jayawarna both 5.5/8and Thisumi

Jayawarna on 7.5/8

We have played in the Inter County Lichess Battles for four weeks. Fifteen

children have taken part. We have a very young team (two children aged 7) and we

have been the only team whose performance grade exceeded their actual grade. Big

well done to the team of twenty children all from local schools and clubs. Best score

has been Bryony Eccleston, Bolton Chess Club

Manchester Juniors have played two International Games against Jumping

Knights, Edmonton Canada. They are coached by WIM Agnieszka Clement-

Matras. On both occasions we were outplayed on the top boards, but I was

impressed by the concentration and commitment of our team. We again have had a

very young team.

We have two more internationals arranged against St Petersburg Juniors and

against Rybnik, Poland.
