3Cs' Dale James has gained a national chess honour by being chosen as the 2022 English Chess Federation "Contribution to Junior Chess" award winner.
Many young players - and their parents - have long known of Dale's passion and enthusiasm in encouraging youngsters to learn the game of chess via the weekly coaching sessions he holds in several schools in the local area and whose work has now been recognised by the governing body of chess.
Dale himself began playing chess while at junior school and, after joining 3Cs, became the club's first British Champion when winning the 1984 under-14s' national title. (Used from the 3Cs website)
