Ian Nepomniachtchi, the winner of the FIDE Candidates:
"It's a huge milestone in my career and perhaps in my life. I am extremely tired. It was one year of thinking about this tournament, one year of preparation."
"The pressure was really high. For the first half of the tournament, I slept poorly... I was full of energy, it is not like my battery was low, but it's difficult to play when you don't sleep enough." Ian will play GM Magnus Carlsen in Dubai for the World Chess Championship title on November 24th-December 16th 2021. The match will be a best-of-14 match, with tie breaks. This was increased from best-of-12 (in place for every world championship match since 2006)
